Brown had stats up last night showing the Angels last or next to last In various offense categories since the All Star break. Hard to believe with that lineup.

Well fuck.  2-run HR from Trout with one out in the first.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Someone must have told the Angels that they have a scary lineup that shouldn't be last in any category.

Ashby's comments add absolutely nothing to the broadcast.  I'm not sure he's ever been accidentally relevant, insightful, or intriguing.

So he swings at the second pitch over his head.  No.  Situational.  Awareness.

Hey, I'm new here, and this is probably the wrong post, but I heard that there are Astros fans here in Southern California. I'm trying to see if there is a separate thread for us Stros fans in SoCal, or anyway I can get in touch? It gets lonely watching these games by myself lol. Plus it would be nice to have people to go to games with. Thank you for any help!

Qualls in for the Astros...

Iannetta doubles down LF line
DeJesus, pinch hitting for Featherston...chops an infield single to SS, Iannetta to 3B
Aybar...infield in...bunts, out 1-4, Dejesus to 2B

That's it for Qualls...Thatcher in

Calhoun...infield in tight...pokes one off the end of the bat over the drawn in Correa, Iannetta scores, Dejesus to 3B

Thatcher out, Neshek in

Trout hit by pitch to load the bases
Pujols...0-2...strikes out swinging
Murphy pops out F4 in foul ground

4-2 Angels

B8:

Lowrie singles up the middle
Gattis...takes strike one...takes strike two...bounces out 3U, Lowrie to 2B
Rasmus, pinch hitting for Marwin...shift on...full count...walks
Tucker, pinch hitting for Carter...

And that's all for Gott, left hander Alvarez in, and Duffy will pinch hit for Tucker

Duffy...is robbed of a strike call, then grounds into FC, Rasmus out 6-4 as Duffy beats the double play
Villar, pinch hitting for Castro...

Alvarez out, Street in

First pitch is wild...Lowrie scores, Duffy to 2B
Valbuena pinch hitting for Villar...draws an intentional walk
Marisnick strikes out swinging

Astros get a run, but again 0 for the game w/RISP...trail 4-3

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Jake from Marisnick?

That was hideous.

So Cole Calhoun just goes with an outside pitch he had no business reaching. He just put bat on ball and punched it to left. Marisnick does just the opposite on an outside pitch... he swings from his heels as if it's a fastball down the middle of the plate. That is a study on approach and knowing what the pitcher is trying to do to you... not like Huston Street isn't known for throwing outside sliders or anything. Damn. Go get them next inning.

T9:

Harris in...

Cron grounds out 6-3 on the first pitch
Cowart strikes out swinging
Iannetta grounds out 5-3 on a nice backhand play by Lowrie

To the bottom of the 9th...Astros will have the top of the order up, chasing a run...4-3 Halos.

Springer... son... so he's throwing to the outside... what do you think he's going to do next?

Throw me an outside pitch or put one in my ear.

Okay, swing and take it to right... oh... watch out for the one in the ear.

First two outs travel a total distance of about 70 feet.

Again, the Angels walk the winning run...the Astros 9th walk of the night...none of which have scored.

Next year's going to be weird because it never once occurred to me that Carlos' ball would get out.

Street decided to test the middle of the plate... and paid for it. C'mon Oso Blanco... take the pitch to right with power!

T9:

Altuve chops back to the mound, out 1-3
Springer taps back to the mound, out 1-3
Correa doubles off the CF fence, 430 feet away
Lowrie draws intentional walk, represents the winning run
Gattis punches out

Astros lose..

9 walks, 23 LOBsters...not going to get it done.

Think of every ball that ever got to the track...now realize that those will all be home runs.

I think of all the areas where the team can improve in terms of offense next year (basically everything but SS and 2B), DH is probably the most critical, and probably the easiest.

But I can't imagine Gattis is going anywhere.

I hope they're learning about this beautiful game now that they're in this hunt. It's about knowing what you need to do and putting the pressure on the other side to get you out... instead of the other way around. If they beat you, tip the cap... but don't give them outs... make them earn them. I hope this is an investment that will pay huge dividends at some point and we'll see a totally different approach to playoff like baseball from this team. For now, it's just fun watching them battle... at minimum.

I wonder how the staff will react. Obviously in the team's first year in MMP the pitchers basically gave up before they ever got in the building. It was a total disaster, and that's being kind.

Eventually a couple of guys figured out you can very well pitch in the park and that if you're not a total idiot or a total headcase you can use center field to your excellent advantage. Next year that advantage will be gone. I do wonder if the staff will deal with that reasonably or if they'll lose their shit like they did in 2000.

It just amazes me that this team can never relax. Even when something awesome happens for a game or two they'll get the yips again the next day.
Every big comeback or walkoff win gets forgotten overnight, but it seems as if the all the ugly losses stick with them for weeks.

Even if Correa's ball gets out... extra innings is pretty much a death sentence with the bullpen in its current state.
When the Clark is dead, Spack will eat his spleen. Before he dies, Spack will put his posts under the knife so the Clark will see his threads wiped out forever...

I do not agree with much of this.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
