Is Marisnick 0-May? It certainly seems that way.

Lowest OBP in today's lineup is The King's .252.

Marwin Gonzales, it's an obscure play on words based on the title of a Jack Nicholson - Bruce Dern movie. The King of Marvin Gardens.

The way Soto throws the ball back to the pitcher makes *my* back hurt in sympathy.

Man, that's the second major-league base-running brain-fart. Villar is a real head-scratcher.

I don't know if he does or not, but it sure looks like it. I think I heard Blum say something about him having an ice pack on it after the game last night.

Blum and Brownie work well together.

Brownie and Blum play off each other well in a silly way. It's very enjoyable to listen to.

Blum is really growing on me. He's not smooth at all, but he's got a JD quirkiness to him that I really like.

I'm also not terrifying my dog screaming at every stupid fucking thing that Ashby is saying. He certainly appreciates it.

Attaway Stros!!!
Remember Jesus Alou being called out of the 1st base coaching box to pinch-hit a double vs. the Reds in '79 I think, to win a crucial game, and he patted Morgan on top of the head (ala Benny Hill w/the little bald guy) and Little Joe got pissed.....yeah,that was great.

Agreed on all fronts. It's tempting to think that Blum is fantastic only in contrast to Ashby, because he kinda sounds like a lovably-dumb goofy jock, but he's actually quite sharp and picks up on a lot of nuances over the course of a game, and season.

It's hard to imagine that the people who make the broadcast-personnel decisions for the Astros cannot realize that Ashby completely sucks. Brownie's no Vin Scully, but he's pretty good, and Blum, Ford, and Sparks are all very very good in their respective roles.

If we can't get JD back, then at the very least Ashby needs to go.

Blum is really growing on me. He's not smooth at all, but he's got a JD quirkiness to him that I really like.

Blum is very good at the color.  He knows the game, points out little things that people might not notice, and provides some insight as to what's going on from a players' perspective; how a guy approaches a pinch hit at bat, how the SS and 2B communicate, what a pitching coach is saying on a mound visit...stuff like that.  His voice is just irritating to the ear.  But he's light years better than Ashby when it comes to content.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
