Some really awkward baseball being played today by both teams.

This looks to be a 4-hour baseball game.  A low scoring 4-hour baseball game.

Peacock has been ok, but he is at near 100 pitches after 4 innings.

Peacock gets a 1-2-3 inning in the 5th. Maybe he was just getting warmed up. (also, Marisnick made a nice catch).

Marisnick 3-for-3 today.
By my calculations, that brings his Astro AVG to .297.

Buchanan gives way to Fields, having tossed 3 scoreless innings in a tie game. Not bad, not bad.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like that outside of a softball game.

Ball slapped opposite field by Mauer, Santana fielded the ball in left, looked up, didn't have a cutoff man to throw to, so instead of just throwing in to second or to someone standing around, he elects to crow hop 150 times toward home, and whoever the fucktard Twin on 3rd was trotted home when Santana's throw went wildly up the 3rd base line.

Mauer singled to LCF, runner from 2nd easily scored on the hit, runner from 1st went to 3rd... and Santana couldn't figure out who he was supposed to throw the ball to - no one had lined up as the cutoff man - so he kept pumping but not throwing. Then the runner breaks for home, Santana finally throws the ball in, offline, runner easily scoring. From first. On a single.

Or, what Mark said.

Absolutely nasty pick by Mauer. Great footwork and made it look easy for out number 2.

Yep. Many 1B would've had that throw get by them and wound up with 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.

On the highlight, you can clearly hear a yell of "throw the ball!" Multiple times.

Says he panicked...but I don't even get that.  By the time you play HS ball, throwing the ball in from the outfield is a reflex.

While I don't disagree that it's inexcusable, he is 21 years old. And probably feeling a bit psyched out because he's 0-for-16 or whatever in his MLB career.

This is a good time to point out to all the people who clamor for prospects who are hitting well in AAA or AA to be called up immediately, and say things like "he can't be worse than ________". This is why teams don't, or shouldn't, call players up based on their stats. Santana is not ready for MLB. And that's not his fault.

I recall that Luke Scott learned enough Spanish to where he could tell Willy to hurry up and throw. Maybe Domingo's teammates would do better with a dose of espa-nole.

I'm going to go find this play and watch. I can't wait.

No one warned me that I would have to see and thus be reminded of Jordan Schafer. At least he's hitting worse than every single Astro other than the guy batting zero. If you're looking up at guys like Grossman and Singleton, well, that's a harsh toke.

I noticed the other day that Marwin has the 2nd-highest AVG on the team, around .263.

I have talked to Domingo before.  He does not need a translator.  In fact he was translating as I talked to another Dominican player.

Right, didn't he grow up in the U.S. and then move back to the Dominican?
