Aplin displaced? Sounds like DeShields won't play the OF until the AFL starts.

Also, it didn't specify he's moving to CF, just "outfield". I've seen scout-speculation that he may be limited to LF because of his arm.

MiLB.com with an article up about DDS's transition to CF.  DDS shares a lot about the move, including adjustments he's making, as well as scouting information on Amador and Fontana.  It's a good, fairly insightful article (DDS does a good job with that).  Here are a few quotes:

Chief among the lessons has been positioning -- far more complex in professional baseball than the high school ranks. DeShields said he's been studying up on where he needs to be depending on the situation, while making sure he's in a good position to see the ball off the bat. For instance, a couple of times this fall, he's left the pitcher between himself and home plate and momentarily lost sight of the baseball on contact.

"He reads the ball off the bat extremely well," Pleskoff wrote recently after seeing DeShields play in Arizona. "I have been quite surprised at the excellent routes he has taken in the difficult high Arizona sky. He has speed to close on balls in the air and enough athletic ability to handle balls hit off the wall while covering the gaps."

Two Astro updates at BP:

Japhet Amador, 1B, Astros (Peoria javelinas): 1-4, R, HR, 2 K. I don’t know how well Amador is actually seeing the ball right now, but the Astros could see a lot of stat lines like his from Monday afternoon, where he connected on a home run but also struck out twice. If he can manage to hit around .250 and run into his home runs, he’ll play for the Astros next season.

Delino DeShields, Jr. CF, Astros (Peoria Javelinas): 3-4, R, 2 2B, K. Our Astros rankings will be coming out soon here at BP and we’re not as high on DeShields as most, but he could change some minds if he can continue to be a catalyst like he was on Monday.
