And Catfish Elkins gives the 'Cats their first lead of the night with a bases-loaded walks. 'Cats up 4-3, bases still juiced.

If I hadn't lapsed into total apathy or more accurately total antipathy I would consider this offense reason to heap additional contempt onto a dismal disgrace of a baseball club and its cocksuck slime of an owner.

As long as we aren't doing anything.

My dad is semi-pro at darts (really).  He shows up with $18 Academy (off) brand darts and two beers in his belly to every match/tournament.  He called me after his last tourney laughing his ass off because he beat three guys with sponsored jerseys and lost to the eventual winner in the semis.  Walked out of there with a crisp $20 bill and six beers in his belly.

My kind of sport.

I knew a guy who when he played pool at a bar would invariably select the most warped and fucked up cue he could find simply to have the satisfaction of kicking everyone's ass with a fucked up cue.

"Crane said he would not pitch the seven-time Cy Young Award winner against a contender, which leaves this week as the only option."

No, of course, not, that would be unfair. Instead we're sticking with the fearsome staff we already have, at least against CONTENDERS. Suck it, contenders, you're going to have to face Hector Ambriz.

I'm presuming so, though I don't recall having heard anything definitive on the subject.  BTW, that comment was born from a Justin Maxwell 3B that rolled up on the hill.

Castro cost Houston another run with that shitty defense.

I'm holding off until next season to make a 'call' on his defense...  I don't EVER recall it being this problematic until this season, and am hoping it relates more to changes/doing things differently in his first season after knee surgery and related to some of the 'lingering effects' (DLd related to knee issues) regarding the knee surgery.  And yes, I'm trying to be an optimist...

Haven't I said numerous times before that Castro's defense this season, particularly on blocked balls, is abysmal? If I heavily relied on a curve ball in the dirt ahead in the count, I wouldn't throw it with runners on base, which really sucks, particularly at the big league level.

Stop it already. He flat sucks on defense right now. Knee surgery or not. His blocking ability is nonexistent.

I noted that Castro's D has been crappy this season, and agree that it has been crappy this season.  Just adding that there have been a number of articles/comments/etc. about misc. changes, etc. though, and I am *hopeful* that his D will be closer to what it has been in the past for next season.  That's all.

All the Durian Fried Pies I can eat.

Funny you'd mention this. I'm returning to the States for a while next month and the other day I suddenly realized that I would soon be able to eat some durian. Fuck me, I'm excited. I can't believe that with all the chinamen running around down here no one has figured out how to import durian. Or fucking grow it, man, of course it would grow here. That and jackfruit. They have a sort of breadfruit here that they eat fried. You mostly see it on the Caribbean side. And guanabana, which looks pretty similar but inside is totally different. But no durian and no jackfruit.

Anyway, durian soon, hell yeah.

Time for you to diversify.

Just checking quickly I can't find anyone who has been able to get a tree to fruit in the western hemisphere. If it would fruit anywhere in this hemisphere this would be the place. Second, it takes 15 years for a tree to grow into the ability to fruit. I don't have that kind of time. Maybe I'll just import them. Chuck's Fruitery.

We're down to 500 here at the park.

There are more SNSers at the game than in the game zone.

We're going to NYC for Christmas.

Looks like we're going to have a guestroom - make yourselves at home.

That better be a fucking joke.

Not a joke. I didn't see Wrigley gear, but I was there about 10 days ago and saw Cardinal gear.

Need another reason to hate the FTCs on general principle?!?  Here ya go...

They should sell a Miller Park t-shirt as an alternate home jersey.

Stop it already. He flat sucks on defense right now. Knee surgery or not. His blocking ability is nonexistent.

No commentary here, just a link for a 9/7 Levine article on Castro.

I am certain that the knee surgery has had a little to do with his mobility, but he's ole-ing too many balls. He's flat killing a pitcher like the Angel of Doom, who needs that hammer in the dirt when he's ahead in the count. With runners on base and Castro back there, you take a huge risk with that pitch.
