And WTF?  Kelly Leak was an outfielder.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Ricky Vaughan is your closer, no question.  Who the fuck is this other guy?

Vaughan was successful as a starter, though. He only closed for the final game of the season (guess I've still never seen Major League 2; is he only the closer then?). I think you owe it to yourself to watch the first season of Eastbound and Down- Kenny Powers is hilarious.

Overall, that lineup does not seem too imaginative.

Interesting that they did not go with a DH nominee.  Cerano would have been an excellent choice.

Eddie Harris did a good job on that Cleveland team.  You need a veteran presence to help with the young guns.

No love for Nuke Laloosh as a starter?  Also, Annie Savoy as team psychologist?

There better be room in the rotation for Author Wiggen and Billy Chapel (though you can leave the respective gimpy catchers).

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Marla Hooch would be a good middle of the order bat... plus, if I'm not mistaken, she was a middle infielder?

Still one of my favourite movie moments is when Lovitz sees Marla up close for the first time.  Also, Dottie Pepper can be my catcher any time.

He absolutely stole the first half of that movie. Hilarious.

just saw her again in Long Kiss Goodnight. very fun, insane movie--one of the best in the momie is a ninja assassin with a head injury genre. plot, such as it is, weirdly echoes the conspiracy theory verison of 9/11. Wonder if Mr. Cheney likes them tall too

So a lineup of:
CF Hayes
LF Rayburn
RF Hobbs
1B Elliot
3B Dorn
C Davis
SS Leak
2B Rodriguez
P Rowengartner

Bench:
C Hinson
UIF Hooch
UIF Lou Collins
UIF Pat Corning (fictional character played by Kevin Elster?  Sure, why not.)
OF Mickey Scales (late inning replacement, pinch runner)
OF "Downtown" Anderson (pinch hitter to all fields)

Rotation:
Rowengartner
Montana
Laloosh
Chapel (perfect game puts him over the top)
King Kelly (he fills the "old man who loads up the ball" quotient and his stuff avoids bats.  Sure winner as long as Crash can handle a spitter/knuckler.)

Bullpen:
Harris
Vaughn (setup/closer)
Powers

Needs a couple more relievers, but not a bad squad I think.

I don't know if I can root for a team that doesn't have room for Cecil "Stud" Cantrell. or Jose Brown for that matter.

How about Cantrell for bench coach?  As for Brown, i'm sorry to say I'm drawing a blank.

BTW I figure I'll shore up the bullpen with Ryan Dunne for long relief/spot starter.  Scales gets bounced for Pedro Cerrano, I need a big bat of the bench.

Doesn't Joe Boyd/Joe Hardy have to be the centerfielder? Who could be better?
Plus Benny Van Buren should get a look at manager.

Finally getting some Little Big League guys in the mix. You can dip into that well further and get Bauers and Blacktop to fill out the bullpen.

Yeah I ALMOST went ahead with Blacktop from the start, but wanted to see who else was on the market.  But yeah, he's on.  Good setup/8th inning man.  Bauers...  I'll make him the Kangaroo Court judge.

I think Joe Hardy deserves to start in the OF ... He was heads and shoulders above these movie lightweights.
