That must have cost a fortune and taken a year to produce.

Aside from it being really long, what's so special about it?  I thought it was pretty fucking lame...in addition to being really long.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

It's meant to be broken into several different ads, which is why you see the multiple transitions between countries/players.

In my opinion, great production, clever editing and a quality that's difficult to find in ads these days.  Shit, at least they tried to make it look cool - more than you can say for the majority of what's on tv these days.

I found it choppy, disjointed, visually distracting and if I didn't already know, I'd have no clue what they were advertising.

The part with Wayne Rooney is really funny, especially the part about his ultimate comeback culminating with getting knighhood by the Queen Mum! (The part about the USA squad - Donovan especially - beaming at Rooney's fall from grace is brilliant)  BTW - there is another video produced by Nike a few years ago that used the first person view (basically, you were the futbol player on the same pitch with Ronaldo and Rooney and other superstars).  That video was groundbreaking and it was similar film-making technology that is used today for first person looks.  I saw a Science Channel show about that technique and the camera they use to create those first person videos.

Any way, the video I speak of has you as a young futbol player playing in some amatuer leagues, scoring a goal and celebrating.  A scout approaches, signs you to a contract and next thing you know you're on the same pitch as the professional squad, practicing for the upcoming season. As you go along, you're starting to live the life of a star, partying with hot women, driving fast cars, etc.  You're a midfielder it seems, and you get to walk into Wembley Stadium (the first person view is awesome!) to play against the Manchester United club.  You have a terrible match, getting beat soundly by Ronaldo for a goal.  He walks past you and blows you a kiss, taunting you.

It's all a great series of shots that has you totally engrossed in the video from shot 1 through the whole thing.  I'll try and find it, I may have some of the items in the story mixed up, but in the end, you dedicate yourself to practicing hard, playing hard and getting back on the pitch to play the game the right way.  Great video, best sports video I've ever seen.

Here it is. it's called "Take It to the Next Level" although this youtube version is very blurry.  I once had the Nike version, full HD... it is still awesome.

That's a great one, Noe.  I've always enjoyed Nike commercials (regardless of whether I buy their products, which I don't).  Two of my favorites:

Caught it Saturday during the Champions League Final, freaking brilliant!

I loved the "England in Roo-ins" headline part and hoping to see it for real on June 13th.

For the same reason Indians fans do.  We were born here, we don't have much choice.

That's crazy.   You're talking crazy.

I was born here and I watch the World Cup and I can't think of a single good reason to root for USA.  I hope they get swept out so we can watch some countries that gives a shit in the knock-out rounds.

I felt this way as a teenager in El Paso.

Which, by the way, was a much better angle for you to attack.   I had no choice but to root for Mexico growing up and still do (in the World Cup).

Mexico invariably fields a singularly unlikable team. I'm glad I'm not compelled to root for them. I have my hands full as it is.

I usually root for England, largely because we lived there so long and I'm more familiar with their players.  Don't know that I'd root for them over the USA.  Oh, and death to Portugal.

England will look great on the list of teams punked by the US with this mentality.

Nice headline from an English tab shown during last nights game, er, tryout.
