Arb hearing today
« on: February 17, 2010, 11:25:05 am »
Wandy's arbitration hearing is set for today in St. Petersburg, FL.  A decision is expected by Thursday.  LINK

Maury Brown at the Biz of Baseball tweets: "Early look at Wandy Rodriguez salary arb comps. Based on just the salaries/asking figs from look-backs, I think he could lose. $7M too high "  LINK

He could have just written "vs. Tal Smith = lose." and saved space.

4 hours!

Says $7MM and $5MM, but it's not clear if that was just the previous reports or if this is what they went to the table with.   Would you typically give a little bit vs where you left of on negotiations to better your case to the arbitrator?

That's correct.  Two numbers enter, one number leaves.

Look, if he cuts a few coupons, eats meals at home and watches the utilities he'll be fine. I mean, I've heard of some people getting by with even less!

You make it sound easy, but Spree might disagree.  And he has a family to feed...

I wonder what was in the business plan for the budget.  If they had $7m, I assume the extra $2m would be saved for a mid-season move.
