Boise State/Oregon
« on: September 04, 2009, 10:16:47 am »
Is Oregon that bad or is Boise that good?  They really held the ducks offense in check last night.  On the fighting front, the Oregon RB clearly should be punished (If I were the Oregon coach he would never suit up again), but I thought the Boise State player should have some punishment coming as well...I probably would have been pissed off too had somebody slapped me on the shoulder pads (presumably after talking shit) after a bad loss.  While the retribution towards the opposing player was one thing, going after fans is another...dude seemed to be off his rocker.  A lot of interesting questions to be answered by the new Oregon coach...will be interesting how their season plays out from this point on.

I cannot watch games played on blue carpet.  I don't mean that in a superior way -- I seriously cannot watch.  It gives me a headache.

Some context - That Oregon RB was already suspended over the summer because of his terrible attitude. He's probably gone if I had to guess but who knows (the ex-coach, current AD Bellotti never met a thug he didn't like, so it's possible he gets a wrist slap). Blount was quoted before the game as saying that Boise State needed a "ass-whooping", so that's probably what the BS player was giving him shit about. Probably not a good idea to run your mouth before a game if that's how you're gonna respond to getting it back afterwards.

My guess is Oregon goes into full-on meltdown mode - they look poorly coached, terrible OL, QB overrated and not very good, and they have to  play Purdue, Utah, and Cal next. They will be very lucky to escape that stretch 2-2 (after the thinking in Eugene was that they had dark-horse national title potential). I wish Stanford faced them soon instead of at the end of the season, when they might have regrouped.

They might do better if they would quit fucking around with their uniforms. Every year seems to be a contest to see if they can out-weird the previous year's uniforms. What's with the leaves (or whatever they are) on the shoulder pads this year? What does that have to do with ducks?

I thought they were feathers but if you can't tell what is the point. Junked up one of Oregon's better looks.

That blue field is seriously unstable. It makes me nauseous. Especially with all blue uniforms by the home team.

I personally liked the uniforms that looked like they had been run over.

If they're going to have that fucking awful blue field, they should have to wear white uniforms or something bright. Their uniforms are the exact same color as the field, and it's an unfair advantage when the visitors have to wear white. It's like a team playing on natural grass and getting to wear Mossy Oak camo, while the visitors have to wear blaze orange.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

That field is the first thing I've seen since switching to HD that looked even worse.

As much shit as I've heaped on Boise State for that crime against humanity they call a field, I decided to give them a permanent pass and my casual rooting interest as payment in kind for the utterly, unspeakably awesome way in which they dispatched the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl. Holy fucking fuck, it makes me grin ear to ear just thinking about it again...

You know which college football uniforms I like?  These:

THANK YOU!!!  It's not just me.  ESPN has a love affair with Boise State and I flip right past it if I see that damn blue rug.

Agreed.  However, I was really disappointed when Penn State had a "redesign" of the uniforms with the Nike logo.  I liked the old ones better.

I'm torn, I like odd color schemes that freak the masses out and I like traditions and simplicity. I don't mind the blue field but some of these uniforms look like pajamas. I don't see where that helps in recruiting.

Speaking of fields, have any of you heard that Tech's thinking about installing a black field? Or is that just rural legend?

The blue field is disconcerting. If the uniforms weren't the same exact color as the field, I might be able to watch for more than a few minutes without getting a headache. I like the uniqueness of the blue field, but actually seeing it is just hard on my eyes.

And Blount got at least what he deserved. It wasn't just the punch... it was also the way he conducted himself for the five minutes following the punch.
