The amount and percentage of cubs fans at this game at cinci is embarrassing.  Add the city to bud's list of places to fuck hurricane evacuee teams.

The amount and percentage of cubs fans in any city is embarrassing.

Can you think of any other team in any other sport that is so consistently losery that has such an amazing following?  Go on.  Try.   I don't mean like Notre Dame football (which sucks right now), I mean a team that hasn't won shit in 100 fucking years but that has an inexplicably global following.

The NFL Cardinals are as futile but no one gives a shit. I think the Cubs stand alone in their shiterlingness.

With Wandy and Roy hurting I doubt they let Hampton go just yet. I'm sure they don't want 3 rookies in the rotation.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I have this mental image, myself, of how Coop fills out a lineup card.   It involves a water balloon, an ox, and a grapefruit.

It's funny in my head.   Then I see the lineup and it's not so funny anymore.

anybody into faith no more when chuck mosley was the lead singer, before mike patton (the "we care a lot" era-- by far the best in my opinion)?

well, my friend pre-ordered chuck mosley's new solo album, and then he got an e-mail saying that if he went to some website he'd get a personalized message from chuck himself thanking him for buying the album:

here it is (my friend's name is rob):

they both suck.  every once in a while on pbs you see that documentary where some guy goes around the country trying different hot dogs at some of the most famous places.  well, during the new york section of the film all the mongloid new yoikuhs brag about how gray's papaya and nathan's are the best in the country and chicago hot dogs suck dick and jetah's awesome and crap like that.  fuck that!  chicago hot dogs are 5000000000000 times better.

I'll grant you that the Jewish delis in NYC aren't all that great as a whole any more because so many have closed.

But LA?   Really.   Come on, dude.

I'll put 2nd Ave's pastrami up against Cantor's any mother fucking day.

Ok, next time I'm out in LA (which as always, I swore would never happen again), I'll try Nate and Al's.   It's going to have a really hard time beating 2nd Ave.

I will say most of the bagels here have been totally unimpressive.  The way NYers talk about them, you'd think they were just a totally different food up here.  They're not.  They taste exactly like the ones I ate in El Paso.

Sweet Jesus, man, what were you doing in Jersey?

I'm seriously trying to imagine something, anything (a sporting event?) that would make me get up off my lofty ivory perch and travel an hour to visit the burbs.

I'm sure they're fantastic places to raise kids.   It's just that.......I hate my kids.

I wish it was a sporting event.  A wife's good friend invited us out, it took a fucking 1.5 hr bus ride to get there.  I'm going to Rutgers next weekend for some wings, there are supposed to be some good ones out there, and I'm only going b/c all of my friends are going.

Don't.   Get.   Me.  Started.

One of the first conversations we had when we got out here was:
Man, you realize the Pac-10 Game of the Week starts at like 1am out here?

Who cares?

What were you doing living in Garden Grove?

short story:  i've wondered that ever since

long story:  i was living in san diego, dating and living with this girl i'd met in a hotel room in boston, having dinner with her one night i accidentally ran through a glass door, had 200 stitches and reconstructed toe, two weeks of constant pain and bed confinement, stayed with her mom who was a nurse, but her mom was a mobile nurse for aids patients so the mom thought i was a pussy for complaining about my pain, i got better and the girl broke up with me, i had about 2 days to find a place to live in l.a. (where i had a glamorous job lined up as a script reader in the movie bidness), the first place i found that was in my broke price range was a room in a house in garden grove for $300/month

Why?   Is there some statistical advantage to turning a switch hitter around to a side in which he hits with less power and a lower on base percentage?

21 years in Texas but that's because its fucking Texas.  Any other state wouldn't have put up with the rowdiness for that long.

I'm not in Texas.

I also can't see the game, and my connection is too weak for gamecast.  Can someone give me a few more details about what's going on?

Matt Cain was all like PEW PEW and the Astros were like damn! This dude is tough. Then Mike Hampton was being all gutsy and only gave up 2 runs while the manager for the Astros Geoff Blum came out of the dugout and said FUCK MATT CAIN! He hit a homer.  Then Bourn was all TRIPLE LOL! Matsui went out to bunt but instead hit a 2 run homer and chicken sandwiches rained from the rafters. Cecil Cooper woke up to talk to Arias about what a fucking stud he is and here we are at 3-2 Astros in the 8th inning.

Oddly enough, while many of Houston's females are head over heels in love with Hunter, most gay men I know don't find him attractive at all.

Seriously, Jason.  You're not hitting for dick, so make sure to stand around when the ball bounces away so that SuperBourn can clean up your mess.

Maybe they'll send him away to make room for Paulino.

Seriously, though, my guess is that they're going to DL Roy, so nobody goes down.

MICHAELS:  I GOT IT I GOT IT!
BOURN:  Nah, brah, let it drop, kick it, and stand there.  I'll run 60 extra feet and throw it in for you.

Sorry, but I'd rather they do it now than trot him out there before he's ready and have him really fuck things up.

Well I think he could have pulled that off, but in his modesty Bourn didn't call Michaels off until after Michaels booted it.

Now we're listening to Scully call the Dodgers/Brewers game.   It's total hell.

This Scully guy is describing the action as it happens and, ready for this, sprinkling in facts and news around the action.

I can't take much more of this.

I think Kaz was genuinely excited when he learned about the chicken sammiches.

I gotta say, that whole concept may be the most Japanese League thing in MLB.

Michaels can't measure up to Jason Lane, and Lane was run out of town on a rail.

No offense to Matt, but I had to include Yoshi in the recap.  That was too classic.

I'm going to assume you're kidding, because otherwise....you get that it wasn't a GOOD thing, right?  I was saying it as a backhanded remark to BatGirl and Jane Doe.   I'll be sure to include you in all my minor insults from now on.  I had no idea you cared.

I'm sooooo insulted.  Fuck off Alkie.

Did anyone else notice it looked like Hunter and Wandy have been making out?

Pence had a pretty serious looking cold sore/herpes sore/hole in his lip today.

This might even be too vague for the TZ, but I thought Hunter bore a striking resemblance to Pal from Uncle Buck last night.
