Sunday Morning Trivia
« on: March 22, 2009, 09:13:11 am »
With the SnS fantasy draft coming up Monday night, I thought I'd throw a draft poser at you.

11 different pitchers, who were 1st round draft picks, have appeared in over 100 games for Houston over the years.  Some were picks by the Astros and some were drafted #1 by other teams.  Your job, should you choose to accecpt it, is to name the 11 pitchers.

That's 3 of the 11.  8 to go.

Nope.  Bannister never pitched in 100 games for Houston and the Roberts who was a #1 pick was the utility player, not the pitcher.

Elarton is one.  Clemens pitched in less than 100 games for the Astros and Ryan was a 12th rounder.

Close, he missed the 100 game requirement by 4 games.

Good job, that's the 5th.  Drafted #1 by the Orioles in '93.

Six to go.

Yep. That makes 6.

5 to go.  2 of the 5 were Astro draft picks and the other 3 were drafted by other teams.

I won't give a clue about the 2 Astro draftees but two of the other three have an Ausmus connection.

todd jones, cj nitkowski.

Jones is one of them, drafted #1 by the Astros in '89.  Not C.J. (43 games).

That makes 7.  4 to go.

No, he appeared in 50 games.  He was a #1 pick by the Mariners though.

Yes.  #1 pick by SD.  2 to go, a RHP who was a Houston pick and a LHP who was a Detroit pick.

yep.  #1 pick by the Tigers.  One pitcher left and he was a #1 pick by the Astros.  He appeared in almost 200 games in a Houson uniform

The player you're looking for was drafted in the January phase of the draft, not the June phase.
