Expect it to be shorter than usual as Gametime is doing a remote promotion Saturday morning.  I'll still be calling in at 10:00.

grading the team at the 1/3 mark of the season.

what is on the trade front for the club now that july is less than a month away?

what assets are in the minors that the club could use for a deadline deal?

most surprising thing/player so far?

draft discussion...

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

The Astros have started to make moves:

JR Towles to AAA (Quintero called up)
Brad Ausmus is the starting catcher again.
Cheito Cruz released (Abercrombie called up)
Michael Bourn (as has been announced by Cooper and Wade) will see more bench time, Erstad will play more.
Pence to leadoff (Maybe because Wiggington is getting hot and will do well to drive in runs from the six spot).

Related to that, Tejada gets a night off, Chacon gets a early hook, Sampson gets pulled out of the rotation, all moves that you don't usually see in the span of a week.  Looks like Wade and Cooper are not afraid to make moves for the whole team and keep tinkering.  Good or bad thing?  Is Cooper a manager that won't exhibit a lot patience with players mainly because he was a player once and expected so much from himself?  (Call it the Ted Williams syndrome, which eventually proved the splendid splinter a bad or impatient manager)

You're doing great!  BTW - Brian Moehler had one season (1999 I think) in Detroit when he was considered an All-Star caliber pitcher.  His catcher was Brad Ausmus.  The rumors started to float around that he was scuffing the ball though and I remember Ausmus defending him without really saying he wasn't doctoring the ball.

Moehler never had a half season like that again.

Doing a great job, Zipp.

Chacon gets his first start since being pulled after one inning.  Will he keep his head screwed on or will he press b/c he doesn't want Coop to pull him early again?

If Abercrombie struggles, how long before the "sign Kenny Lofton" cry becomes deafening from sportstalk radio listeners?

Calling in sucks.

It may, but you didn't have to get dressed, you sounded really smart, the hosts didn't interrupt you as much, and you get to spend more time with the kids.  What more do you want?  Well, besides beer and rub girls.
