That was a nice turn: he was already in his throwing motion before he was tagging the bag. Made sure that Young couldn't get there in time to screw up the throw.

Don't Blink, you'll miss an inning

After 2 innings

Haren - 15 pitches (12 strikes)
Sampson - 13 pitches (9 strikes)

Sounds like Drew hammered that ball.  Bad pitch by Sampson?  I'm at work, no TV for me tonight.

For those of you not watching, Haren hit a liner to right, Spaz came in a step, froze, then jumped as the ball sailed over his glove to the wall for a double.

Haren perfect thru three innings. No hits, no walks, no HBP, no errors, faced the minimum, 9 up 9 down, perfecto.

Nice play by Loretta at 3rd. Considering how hard they hit the ball that inning, we were lucky to escape with only 1 run.

Two 0-2 hanging breaking balls has been Sampson's downfall tonight. Not looking good with Haren looking pretty dominant tonight.

Hung breaking stuff twice on 2 strike pitches to account for the runs.  Other than that, has looked fairly decent.

Kaz can't win every game every time. He's notoriously streaky in his level of play, according to friends of mine that have watched him daily over the last few years. Weak pop ups to the infield in situations like this come with the territory.

Matsui leading off and Bourn hitting second... Is that the first time the Astros have tried that? Any idea if there's a particular reasoning, beyond just trying to shake things up a bit? Just seems odd, given all I've read about their fit in the opposite order in the lineup.

Matsui leading off and Bourn hitting second... Is that the first time the Astros have tried that? Any idea if there's a particular reasoning, beyond just trying to shake things up a bit? Just seems odd, given all I've read about their fit in the opposite order in the lineup.

Not the first game. It's a recent trend, however.

JD speculated that Kaz has been getting on base and Bourn was scuffling, might be an opp to bunt for a hit in the 2 hole. Same order yesterday too.

Anyone else not getting announcers on FSN?   I get crowd sounds, bat sounds, ballpark music, etc. but no Brownie and JD.  Its just like being there.  Well, almost.

I'm getting the announcers, but on FSN-HD through my Houston Comcast it skips constantly. SD works fine, thoguh.

Ahh, gotcha.  Thanks, man I really wish I could watch this game.

No .093, no whining at high and tight pitches, no AP, nice game to watch (except for the score of course).  Alas my updates are about done though, as I think the Gleek '08 rule of avoiding intoxicated posting is about to kick in on this end...
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Yeah, I can't figure out how we are getting all the fan noise, but no FSN network crap.  It is great.

One cool dude.  Coming in with no outs and the bases loaded and throwing nothing but breaking balls?

Top 8

Erstad, 2-1 count, pops to SS Drew, 1 out
Kaz, 3-2 count, flies deep to RF, 2 out
Bourn doubles to left center
Miggy really liked that song, doubles to left center, Bourn scores (Tejada 21 RBI)

Some dude named Gualls in to pitch (14 IP, 0 ERA)
Twinkie,  2-2 count, foul tips a slider for a K

Bot 8
Geary pitching
Jackson walks on a full count
Reynolds walks on 10th pitch of AB
Four pitch walk to Upton, bases loaded

Geary not looking too good; the kid is getting loose

Wright pitching
Drew, 2-1 count, K's
Snyder, 0-2 count,  grounds into a Miggy-Matsui-Twinkie double-play

Astros: 3
Dbacks: 5
I say smorgasbord!

Drunk posting is not much of an issue and drunk dialing has never been an issue, but I'm like Spaz on outside slider when it comes to drunk text messaging...

For some reason, the beauty of Wesley Wright with no outs and the bases loaded reminded me of an antithesis, one Mike Gallo.

Not that he'd ever be brought on with no outs and the bases loaded... But he's with the Blue Jays now.  AA too.  You know, just in case you were wondering.
