Just saw that Houston has fewest number of errors in the majors.

Home sweet home for Wandy today, hopefully.

Is there a story/scouting report on this guy Badenhop? It's his first start in the majors.

Mr. Wade says:

Towles and Wandy are buddies, gives him a lot of credit for Wandy's last start.

Matsui will work out at MMP tomorrow, start another rehab on Tuesday, and might play for the team Friday against the Rockies.

Tejada is awesome.  Berkman is awesome, switch hitter thriving in this lineup.

Pence is going through a tough time.  No such thing as sophomore slump, Pence will make some adjustments.  Bourn too.

Bench love.  "Very happy with the composition of the bench."

"We don't have parades for me in Philly anymore."

Guess there was something to Berkman's "Kissimmee yips" comments after all...

Home sweet home and April sweet April for Wandy - can't wait!

Badehop's first start in the Majors.  They did put him in for an inning or so recently just to introduce him to the show.  I'm banking that the new lineup this year won't make every rookie on his first start look like Cy friggin' Young like they have in the past.

Was that the same 'white backdrop' that the coards pitcher was whining about the other day?

Marlins have been liking the train tracks this series...

Looks like Wandy was a tad 'Wandied' after Willingham's shot, but caught his composure back after the long fly to Bourn for back to back Ks.

If Wandy only threw the curve and Badenhof the slider, this game would be over in about 45 minutes.

Matsui will bring bat control and patience so Bourn will actually have time to steal/run the bases

Wandy flies out to center.
Bourn grounds out to second, 4-3.
Loretta also grounds out to second, 4-3.

Re: "The Bridesmaid" comment

I think Milo was having a senior moment, according to "Brewers Nut" on a 2004 posting on "Addictsports.com" forum:

The off-season wasn't all bad, though, as Helms and girlfriend Meredith Wilson were married on December 11th at a wedding chapel in North Carolina. The two met at the HealthSouth Medical Center in Birmingham while Helms was rehabbing his shoulder surgery and topped their wedding cake with a baseball that Helms signed and gave to his new wife.

Not yet, they still have to get three outs.

Radio doesn't mean squat. The ump ruled he didn't make an attempt to get out of the way of the pitch.

HOU gets 1 run from 2 hits and 2 walks, leave the bases loaded.

Berkman BB on five pitches.
Lee blows it by Badenhop and past a diving Uggla, runners at first and second.
Tejada grounds it softly to third, Helms can't reel the throw in, basepaths full.
Tankersley replaces Badenhop on the mound.  Milo makes tank/Marlins jokes, says hi to college students.
Batting from the other side, Blum pops one up high to short.
Cheito comes in for the lefty Erstad, first pitch pop up to first.
The righty Gardner replaces Tankersley.
Towles works a a bases loaded, full count, RBI BB.
Wandy grounds to the pitcher, 1-3.

FLA gets zilch from 1 hit, leaves the runner on first.

Ross singles to center.
Helms flies out to Cruz in front of the track in right center.
Treanor pops out to Loretta.
Andino comes in for the pitcher Gardner, watches a couple strikes, then misses a high fastball, K swinging.

hanging curve on the inside corner for strike 3. Lee was right on it and tried to hit it to the moon. he missed it is all.

He wanted the heater, he got the offspeed three times. I'm sure the Fins pitching coach had something to do with that.

HOU gets 1 on 3 hits and an IBB, leave three runners on.

Lindstrom comes in to pitch.
Bourn goes right back up the middle with Lindstrom's high speed fastball.
Loretta lines his 7th pitch safely to right, Bourn holds up at second.
Berkman hammers an RBI double to the bullpen in left center on the first pitch he sees, runners at second and third.
Lee K swinging.
Tejada draws the IBB, bases now saturated.
Blum lines out sharply to first, but a leaping bridesmaid grabs it.
Cheito fouls out on a pop to the catcher.

So...he swung at a first pitch curve ball out of the zone, then with two strikes wound up and tried to hit an outside curve into orbit and missed rather than choking up a bit and trying to put the ball in play.

Yeah I can see how that's different from spaz.

FLA draws nothing from one hit.

Brocail takes over for Wandy.
Ramirez flies out to right.
Uggla hits it right back to Brocail, 1-3.
Hermida drops one between Tejada, Lee, and Bourn, runner on first.
Willingham watches Brocail throw three strikes, K looking.

HOU gets no runs from one hit batsman.

They decide Gregg ought to pitch this inning.
Towles takes a scary HBP and leaves the game for Ausmus pinch running.
Perez pinch hits for Brocail.
Ausmus gets caught stealing, 2-6-3.
Perez grounds out to first.
Bourn grounds to second, 4-3.

Is it overreacting a bit to let out a hearty "whew" and breathe a sigh of relief at the end of that one?

FLA can't get anything out of an XBH and a BB, leave runners at first and second.

Coop decides Valverde is a better option to pitch the 9th than Perez.
Cantu K swinging, Ausmus hangs on to the tip.
Ross launches a long double off the wall in left center, runner now sitting at second.
Gonzalez pinch hits for Helms and ends up with a BB, runners at first and second.
Rabelo pinch hits for Treanor and K swinging on 3-2 count after Dewey explains to Valverde the value of strikes.
Amezaga flies out to Lee in left center.

Game over, Stros get their 5th win of the season.
WP - Rodriguez (1-0)
LP - Badenhop (0-1)

Well, don't ask an opinion question if you are not prepared for differing answers.

Yep, and Ausmus is in. JR taken for xrays. He was nailed on the hand while he gripped the bat.

Daurte's on the ball again.  Looks like it is bruised, not broken.  LINK

Quote
Astros rookie catcher J.R. Towles suffered a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch in Sunday's 5-1 victory over the Florida Marlins.

Towles was hit on the top of the hand by Florida reliever Kevin Gregg in the eighth inning. He left the game and was replaced by Brad Ausmus.

X-rays were negative and Towles will be re-evaluated Monday.

"Right now it's just a little sore, Towles said.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)
