who will stay and who will go?

It is hard to say. I don't see the Astros wanting Moehler back, although his job was a tough one-irregular work and not knowing when he was going to pitch. I'd like to see OP back-he's a pro. I don't see Lamb coming back, although I'd love to have him. I think that Loretta will only return if the club assures him of a fair shake at the regular 2B job. reverT should be back-I think that he was fairly effective.

I don't want to see OP back.  He is a pro past his prime IMO.  Not sure where Lamb will get a better offer from.  Loretta came here last year because nobody else would give him a starting spot.  Not sure that has changed.  We shall see.

Footer is saying Ausmus, and maybe Loretta.  She is on a roll answering the mail,  Here's John B. in Longview suggesting the recently released Marcus Giles should be the Astros 2b in 08, lets listen,

"So let me make sure I have this right. You're not sure that Burke can play second base every day, so you'd rather the club go with Giles, who, with his .229 batting average and .304 on-base percentage in '07, pretty much proved that he cannot handle the everyday job? Not sure I'm understanding the logic." Link

IOW, San Diego has an open spot at second that Loretta is sure to be pushing for?  No doubt John B. just mistyped a little.

While it might be true that only Loretta and Ausmus are the only ones (of those who filed) who they would want back, I still want them to offer arbitration to Loretta and Lamb.

I figure if the Astros lose Ausmus it will be to retirement more than another team.  But Loretta and Lamb are going to play next year for sure.  If you do lose them at least get something in return.  And if Lamb agrees to arbitration, then you get a quality Lefty stick off the bench, which isn't a bad 2nd option (assuming it wasn't your first in the whole deal).

In other words they need to hedge their bets so they at least get something in return for potential lost talent in those two.

BTW, I don't know about Cabrera, but Ausmus just signed for 1 more ride (according to Chron.com).

I think it is a great signing.  Allows him to tudor Towles and give us a strong club house guy now that Biggio is gone.

I'm not sure Towles is of such royal heritage.

Limey, can I get a ruling?

Right.  Ausmus will help Towles build on what he learned at the end of '07, maybe give more structure to his game.  Who knows?  Maybe he houses greatness within himself. At any rate, he can learn from Ausmus' no-nonsense, stucco-and-beams approach.

Can anyone help me out here?

Isn't Henry V the official play?  Wasn't he a Tudor?

Nope.  Henry VII was the first Tudor king.

In this case, I hope he's been watching the Showtime series, and brings plenty of lube to Spring Training.

Am I the only one expecting Henry VII to stand up on his fingers and walk off the screen?
