I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

"It was the heat of the moment," Barrett said. "Rich did a pretty good job overall, and I think he was pretty disappointed about hanging a slider to Washburn. It wasn't even a big deal. We were just talking about pitch selection, what we were going to do next inning."

IOW, I love you and won't hit you again.

Ike Barrett?

Michael Barrett is an asshole.

There's being an asshole and winning, "Carlos Zambrano's excessive jumping on the field ...regarded by some as showing up the Astros." and then there's the losing, Barrett, ...mishandled a throw ...as Jose Vidro scored the winning run ...."At the last second, I don't know, it either came out of my glove or I just took my eye off of it."

Ike Barrett?

He still has a long way to go to reach Joey Barton levels of assholism.

I don't think brawl is the right term for what happened between Zambrano and Barrett.  It gives Barrett way too much credit.  One guy beating the shit out of another is not a brawl, it's an ass kicking.
Crazy Joe McCluskey was fucking nuts.  It's why they called him Crazy Joe.

It really wasn't an ass kicking.  He just slapped Barrett around a little.  Players couldn't get a drink.  He was banging locker room attendants two at a time.

That was in the dugout.  In the clubhouse, busted lip, black eye, Barrett went to the hospital.  But they're all friends again now.

Barrett looked like a AV Club member that wandered down the wrong hallway after school during his press conference.

Busted lip, two black eyes. Face looked pretty puffy.

Michael, you're my brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the Cubs again. Ever.
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

He just fell off his bike.  Or accidentally opened a door on his face.  Or tripped and fell down the stairs.  The fact that he was late with dinner when Zambrano had come home the night before had nothing to do with it.

Some might say that the BBGs have rendered an opinion about this Thread.

See, e.g., Wheeler vs. Sampson.

Do you think he will be fined in kangaroo court?  Wheeler looked really pissed and that was no friendly little shove.  If I'd been Sampson, I might have swung back at him.

Agreed.  We had our fun with Barrett/Zambrano, but looks like the BBGs just shot a warning shot over here to tell us to STFU.

Bullshit.  Stuff like that happens.  It happened in front of the cameras is the problem.

• On Aug. 27, Barrett caused both benches to empty by jawing at Oswalt when the pitcher batted in the second inning. Oswalt went on to beat the Cubs 15-7, snapping their five-game winning streak and cutting their lead over the Astros in the wild-card race to six games. The Astros ended up snatching the wild card from the Cubs, and the Barrett-Oswalt incident was seen as the spark that fueled them.

One of my favorite Astro moments (as in one-second-of-Astros-baseball) was the look on Roy's face when Barrett started jawing.

It was that "I could kill you with my pinky fingernail, you swollen bitch, but if you want me to prove it to you in front of all these nice people, let's feel free to have a go at it, shall we, ol' chap" shit eating Mississippi grin.

No, but in looking, I found a picture of Jim Edmonds about to eat a man in a wig.

Having lived the first 21 years of my life in or near that part of the world, I can assure you that no one--I mean, no one--in Mississippi uses the phrase "ol' chap."

In fact, Roy might throw at you for simply suggesting that his look connoted the phrase.

An acceptable replacement would be "sum'bitch," "possum's pecker," or anything else that Sheriff Buford T. Justice might have said in S and the B.
