With Manfred talking openly about expansion for the MLB or relocation of teams (Oakland), would you support another league switch for the Astros?

Their wine list is pretty impressive, a lot of high end producers. Looks like they're going with a 100% markup on the bottles, though, which (unfortunately) is pretty standard in the restaurant business these days. Better to buy one of those bottles retail and forget about it in a wine cellar for a few years.

Anyone know Garland's salary situation for 2007?

If true, let the "Who is going to play CF?" debate begin.

I understand Lamb would be the 3B, but who would be his back-up??? The org is not very deep at 3B after Ensberg and Lamb?

I can't believe I get a reference. I miss that show.

Players (and years played) who accumulated 1500 runs, 2300 hits, 400 homers, 1500 RBI, 1400 walks and 200 stolen bases in their careers:
Hank Aaron (23 years)
Barry Bonds (20 years and counting)
Willie Mays (22 years)
Frank Robinson (21 years)
Jeff Bagwell (15 years)
That is all.
Carve these names on a bat, and use it to beat anyone who claims that Bagwell is even marginal for the Hall.
With all due respect to Bagwell, one of these things is not like the other:Player R H HR RBI BB SB
------------------------------------------
Aaron 2174 3771 755 2297 1402 240
Bonds 2152 2841 734 1930 2426 509
Mays 2062 3283 660 1903 1464 338
Robinson 1829 2943 586 1812 1420 204
Bagwell 1517 2314 449 1529 1401 202

What annoys me is that we'll probably never hear the end of how they christened New Jake City with a world championship.

Human psychology. Without a time machine or the ability to see into the future, people will almost always "invest" (we call it gambling) on emotion. They'll buy after something has gone up, thinking it will continue to go up and sell once something has gone down, thinking it will only get worse.
What I think is amazing is that most people can't tell you what they're eating for lunch tomorrow, but they think they can tell you which direction stocks will move over time.
We should probably take this discussion to PM.

I love the Houston AStros. I am a new poster here. I love to talk about the Houston Astros Houston Rockets and Houston Texans. I think the Houston Astros had a great season. Ialso think the Houstin Astros should sign CarlosLee!
I think Brad Lide should be FIRED! I also think Morgan Ensdberg should be fired so we can get someone good like AROD.

Let us know if you find out.

too bad. i like him.
Too bad, now I have to hear more from Kruk and Phillips, both of whom I think have their heads up their butts... And Phillips still preens around like he wasn't a total tool as a GM.

I don't disagree with your latter point. Athletes will make as much as the market will bear to pay them. Although people do question why they should publicly subsidize ballparks so that owners can pay players millions of dollars per year. But since the funding of ballparks is often approved by referenda, who's to blame for that?

I don't think that last night was a choke job. Garner wanted his guys out there to take good hacks. If he didn't, then they would have tried a sacrafice. They took their hacks and missed. You have to give some credit to the Sox pitchers for doing what good pitchers do.
Quote:
Choking as it relates to sports is impossible to define. Same as trying to define God. Most people believe that it exists but good luck on finding two people agreeing as to exactly what it is.
What cannot be denied is that some people react better in pressure situations than others.

My point is that the advantage in pitching goes to the Sox because Clemens is an old man... He was born in 62 for Christ's sake... He didn't come to Houston to play in the World Series, he came to retire...

Someone please tell me how Lane could be out at 2nd, when Perez had neither the ball, a foot on the bag, nor a tag on the runner.
Fucking bullshit.

Come on Astros, play add on.

Right, it's not his fault about the offense, but that ring-up on Biggio has me red-hot.
Aside from Bucknor, NUT UP YOU SACKLESS BUNCH OF MONKEYTURDS. IT'S TIME TO GET SOME FUCKING RUNS.

Somebody beat me to it, but I would definitely vote for Guiness in a can ... their patented plastic whateveritis in the can makes it taste almost as good as on tap, while the bottled version tastes dead.
