Amen to that.
Left side of the infield getting back to normal.

So nice having Bregman at third.
That may be the best catch I've ever seen. The way that was bending away from him I was sure it was falling in. The way he turned that glove just that little bit at the end was fantastic.
I’m late to the party on this likely but I wanted to wait and see. What he’s done this year combined with the pressure of that AB and that bullshit strike two call makes me think he’s legit. I doubt he sees AAA again. What an addition.
Strike one to Maldonado was a ball, and the play itself was putrid.
It's like they're trying to not score runs sometimes.
The rainbow guts do not flatter Tyler White's figure.
Fuck Doug Eddings
If the battle is who can pick the ugliest...yeah, then win hands down.
Altuve won't return until next Friday at the earliest, twitter tells me.
Hinch said in post game interview they optioned Davis to AAA in anticipation of activating Correa tomorrow.
Yeah, Bregman in particular had a rough night. He’s been carrying this team for a while though so not much you can say. Honestly, he was probably due to cool off a little. We need Yuli to step up and we especially need Correa to come back tomorrow night and play with his hair on fire.

Trying to carry the team....
Damn. Max hit it right on the screws.
Damn. Reddick gets some tough calls against him consistently. 1-0 was a joke.
That was a shockingly poor AB for Bregman.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Kemp gives this team some really solid ABs

JD Davis does not belong on a major league roster.
Hanigar is 3-3 in 1st ML start.Enough.
Paxton's pretty good.
He didn’t step ahead of the throw. Easy call.
What was the balk call all about? I was half watching and saw the pickoff and then later was completely confused by the unexpected results.
The HR was one thing. But the triple and double should have been outs at this level. Frustrated I’m sure.
Later that season, at a game in Pittsburgh on August 11, Verlander’s coach pulled him after the first inning and told him to get an MRI.
I was at Monday night's game. Amazing how much energy drained out of the stadium after Marwin's blast.
I was also very surprised by how many Astros fans were there. To me, it looked like at least a third of the crowd.
They should have Cheo on more. Always like hearing from the stars of my youth.
I'm not the type who can recall batting styles or windups, but envisioning him slapping and driving line drives all over the place is easy to recall.
To Bregman's credit, he hit the shit out of it.
How close was Reddick to making it?? I’ve got to settle for radio right now.

It worked out great, but not because of anything that Hinch did. Fisher struck out, Gattis grounded out, and Stassi popped up.
Fisher would be my choice.
Every split-squad win we can get is precious. Keep the lead until the cavalry arrives.
Nice win tonight against an old NL West foe.
Don’t pitch against the shift!
One fucking rolling curve
Should have left Maldonado in the game. What a waste of a fucking at bat. You get your ass sent down and in your first at bat back, you stand there? REPEATEDLY?!?!?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will somebody score on this goddamn rookie?
HPU has no clue... the catcher that moves that much CAN'T be a strike.
Charlie with his best Verlander imitation right there!

Warm compared to Candlestick,
Has anyone in here actually been to AT & T Park? It looks like the water level from the bay just over the fence in right is WAY higher than field level. Is it? Never noticed this before but a pregame angle, and one just a second ago, certainly gave it that appearance.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
White cannot lay off those high pitches. That might have worked in AAA, but I don't think it's going to fly up here.
Holy shit, we’re facing pudge’s progeny. It seems like only yesterday he was an aging FA sign for a desperate owner who continued to feign relevance.

Hot off the presses, Julia reporting that McCann caught Verlander's bullpen today.
McCullers out till September. Forearm, not elbow.
No doubt. When I saw it, I thought for sure he would be done for this year.Ok now see to it that we have good news on McCullers.

Mctaggart says Springer has left thumb strain. It is not UCL sprain and they expect him out 2 weeks.
We'll see. At least they aren't continuing with left thumb discomfort thing
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Is Springer with the team or did he go back to Houston?
Have seen nothing about an MRI to check ligament damage, just that x-Rays were negative. Anyone hear any info regarding when/if and MRI will be performed?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MRI needed.
2 out of 3 is good. Bad news on Altuve, and I am holding my breath on Springer. Luhnow has to find a bit.
I don’t think there’s any chance we’re going to hear any good news today about Springer.
I'll take 2 out of 3. Now just hope to hear something good on Springer.
i can't believe white didn't swing at that.
When exactly did the Astros start with the super secretive Sean Payton style injury reports?
hopefully the astros can slow them down.
Oakland winning again. up 6-0 after 8.
ICYMI
Jake's catch.

Pressly.
This has definitely crossed my mind as well.

This HPU is literally just guessing.
I wasn't paying attention, but I'm sure the hair was flowing beautifully on that grab.
I hope white learned something from his last at-bat.
That was three (?) years ago when he could still move, and it didn't involve making the Rangers better. I think the situation is pretty different now.
He could play LF.
that's not what I asked. you could call gattis an outfielder too.
Everything has me scared at this point.
These Lance and George injuries are major bummers. the injuries bug and bad luck reversion to the mean are starting to take a toll.
Luhnow would have looked clairvoyant if he landed Pham.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now Bregman hit by pitch on the hand...trainer out but looks like he'll be ok
Luhnow focused on the waiver wire.
Is Altuve doing rehab yet? I saw that McCann was doing some rehabbing already but I don't recall anything about Altuve. I am hopping a healthy and hitting Correa come back next week.
But, I think Tucker gets the call back.
This home plate ump is just guessing at balls and strikes.
Sparks reporting that Rosenthal reporting that Soscia (sp?) will retire at the end of the year.
Smith with wacky movement.
Bregman's hair looks kind of orange.
I'm thinking the dodgers hate the astros right now.
Kalas/Blum called him machete easier like earlier.
Bregman is the man.

All those breaking pitches
Hello, Colin.
ETA he was shaking his right arm in the 4th.
Where did Springer’s foul ball land? He crushed one into the valley somewhere.

I'm not as jolly as Mike when I watch the games.
I have a sport coat just like Mike Stanton's
So Marwin is not allowed to move? What the hell?
Shit, nice play by Turner.
Jake Kaplan @jakemkaplan 16sMaybe after SF then?
Jose Altuve won’t be activated from the disabled list Sunday, the first day he’s eligible. He has yet to resume baseball activities.
Based on the roster the last few games of the Astros/Mariner series and last nights M's game, it appears the the Astros AAA team might be a contender in the AL West.
Giles never struck me as an intellectual, and baseball is ultimately a cerebral game. Adrenaline carry carry you physically sometimes, but emotions have to be under control, especially as a pitcher. I think he often struggled with that part of his game.
ETA: to clarify, you can pitch with “fire” and determination, but you can’t let emotion dictate which pitch you throw next. If you’re getting squeezed, you have to adjust, you can’t get into a dick measuring contest with the ump. If a guy hits a fastball, you can’t be afraid to throw it the next time up. A fastball may not be the best pitch, but you can’t be sacred to throw it if it is. You can’t keep throwing a guy fastballs because you’re pissed off and want to announce your presence with authority. Ultimately you have to pitch with a purpose. Giles seemed to get lost in that sometimes.
Something more than frustration. Hitting himself was bizarre, and “Fuck you, man” on the mound to Hinch suggests a total loss of control.
Giles called up today by Jays, to be their closer.

Gattis limping into second?
He always moves that way?
AJ Hinch on MLB Sirius Radio Channel saying that when he got back to his office last night, Springer was there, shirtless, doing jumping jacks showing him that he had total range of motion. Springer wants to play today but Hinch giving him the day off. It sounded like he isn't going on the DL.
One win was huge. Last night was a 2-game swing in the standings. And yes...it's August, I'm now checking the standings.
I was realistically just hoping for one win this series so it wouldn’t be a complete catastrophe. Tomorrow would be gravy if they can pull one more out.

Great bullpen work tonight. Good job by Charlie as well.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It must just kill Pettis to throw a stop sign.
Too hard on that one.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok Yuli, this time hard and keep it inside the white lines.
I'm worried about using too much of the week's run quota in one game.
ding dong
"why yes, I AM interested in insurance".
Good job (as usual) Colin.

He's not exactly ElastiGirl.
That was not a fucking ball.
Damn, come on guys, we have to protect Altuve's hits lead.
Yeah, he (like a lot of the team) just hasn’t been right for a while.

Per willman’s twitter:
Alex Bregman's double was hit 107.6 MPH off the bat... That's the hardest ball he's ever hit recorded by @statcast.

It was a nice thought.

So did Beck.

Buck Owens and Roy Clark had a song about times like these.
WTF happened to Springer?
I was not aware that when we traded for Maldo he was in the midst of an 0-20+ slump. We didn’t acquire him for his bat of course, but he likely feels right at home in the clubhouse.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am depressingly not surprised to see they went down in order in the first.
Just another comment on the weakness of the house arrest excuse (and then I'll stop); they used an enlarged ant to get around the house arrest problem in AM&TW, so why would that not have worked in order to get a fairly powerful ally in to the IW fight?
By solving the problem for AM&TW, they torpedoed their own rationale for IW.
I'm wondering if Luhnow is playing a long game and letting these other teams deplete their farm systems this year so that his hand will be relatively stronger next year.
He's kinda always had that look about him, but it's not as glaring when he's hitting .300
I have often wondered if the Astros could go after Beltre to DH. His power has dropped off quite a bit this year, but maybe he'd have an easier time staying healthy as a DH.
What if we built the whole team out of bullpen?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seriously...where the fuck is Correa? Does he have a bone showing? If not...
That was shit. Another pitching gem flushed down the toilet.
Me too.
Damn, I thought Caveman had gotten that one.
White's not much of a "stretcher" at 1B.
Swing the fucking bat, George!
Cruz sure as hell turned into that one. Biggio would be proud.
If Kemp would learn that he's not a power hitter, he could easily hit .300-.320.
Damn, I'm not watching but I want to see this man
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I missed him. Is it an ironic or an earnest ensemble?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My stance when it comes to these things is wait and see. I've spent the last 30 minutes combing the internet and very very little actual info is out there.
...
Pitchers David Paulino and Hector Perez also going in the deal.
Chapman, by the way, was suspended for 30 games. Osuna for 75.
I’m glad to see Giles getting a fresh start somewhere else. Dude just couldn’t build up any good will here and never seemed to be wholly part of the team.
We're beginning to see WHY it's so hard to repeat a WS championship....
They also had a 15-game lead at the time, and lost 5 games in the standing in less than a week. That happens this year, they’re in third place next Friday.
It's the fucking Keystone Cops out there. Pitiful
You know the old saw about good teams being strong up the middle? Well, our C, SS, and 2B are all on the DL. Springer should be afraid. Very afraid.
These are the times that try fans’ souls. Do not bail on this team.
You are way more patient than I am.
I don't think I've ever seen another name with consecutive X's in it.
I'd blame Rondon but this isn't a save situation.
Come on. He is very good.
It's starting to dawn on me that we might get swept by the Rangers.
Todd Kalas - And Stassi starts off the 6th with a double. Let's see if this gets the Astros going!
Ron Howard - It doesn't.
I'm starting to worry about Tucker. Maybe AJ needs to bat him second or third, like he did to get Bregman going in his rookie season. Or maybe I fear, he is just another AAAA player like Reed, White and Davis. He needs to get it going.
Just how bad was it??
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is the move which made sense, and he got his feet wet in the bigs.
Harris and now Devo are major concerns, and Sipp has regressed.
We need more offense.
This is a crippled team at the moment.
I guess Evan didn't like me saying he should sit.. Quick. Say the next 9 batters should all be benched.
I tune in and the first thing I see is a Gattis home run. The second thing I see is Marwin taking a strike right in his wheelhouse.
But not the most odious character on the team... which reminds me, where is the stench?
I hope this embarrassment proves to be motivation for tomorrow.
If they do, no postseason this year.
I didn't realize it until I looked at the dates, but it's been a full month without Correa now. Last game was June 25.
Vanover had better give that same pitch to Keuchel.
Fuck the Rangers. I hope those asswipes never win another game.
I don't think he is a prick. He chose Arlington because his wife has a life-long friend there and preferred it. And then there is this https://www.mlb.com/news/rangers-cole-hamels-donates-house-to-charity/c-263734826
Hamels to the Cubs
I will be really surprised if Marisnick isn't on the post-season roster.
Can we please drive a wedge into this "Keuchel to the pen" idea? Not happening.
It's not like they've been stinking up the joint lately, but they need to wake up and shake those clubs behind them in the standings. The A's pull out another and inch a bit closer.
They doubled down instead.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Probably pleading his case for some form of interference that would give everyone 90 more feet.
I don't know what the actual rule is, but I can't recall a play at the dugout fence that players haven't helped keep their guy (and sometimes even the other team) from going head first over the fence.
Go sit the fuck down, Bud. You got your bullshit run on a 30 foot pop up.
That call is going to be overturned; Tucker's going to be out.
Why not go for a fly ball to the of?
That was dumb as shit.....
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great job by Hector! Now if the bats will make an appearance.
