Insane.  Did they have to use a NL park?  Why not go to Tampa, play a DH Sunday?  They'd both have Monday off and no extra advantage to the cubs.  BTW they play the Crew at Milwaukee starting on Tuesday.  This is advantage fucking cubs all the way around.

My thoughts exactly this is a garbage move by mlb.

biggio doesn't have bourn's track speed either.  Think willy T type defender in CF.

I think he's going to be a nice addition, any idea about his arm???  Zero outfield assists is a bit worrisome.

Burke 1 pitch fly to LF.
Loretta lines a single, only hitter on the team with a clue what he's doing.
Berkman singles to RF.
Lee GIDP 5-4-3 routine.

Dear Mr. Garner,

Please find a way to start Mark Loretta for the rest of the season.

Thanks,

I think Lidge needs to act more like a closer - by growing a ridiculous mustache.  Rod Beck used a mustache to have a successful career, and Lidge has much more talent than Beck.

a la Rick White's big ass beard?  I think he gets the ball the next few save opportunities.  I'm watching Papelbon right now (clean shaven) and having flashbacks of Lidge when he had an exploding 97 mph fastball.  Man I miss those days.

The problem is Jennings was a better pitcher, ERA-wise, at Coors last year than he was on the road.  In the past, Coors has inflated his ERA, but not by much.
I don't know how valid of a concern this is, but theres also the possibility that attempting to adjust to Coors has screwed with his mechanics a bit.

Jennings' road ERA last year was 3.97 and was better than Pettitte's overall ERA in 2006. Doesn't sound like much of a problem to me considering many hoped Pettitte would return to fill the role of #2 behind Oswalt.

I'm in the camp of Purp not being done. I don't think Huff will be back and Ensberg is the likely player to be shipped for additional pitching. Frankly, I'm fine with Lamb and Bruntlett sharing 3B if it means Houston can get another quality innings-eater for the rotation.

As an aside - hopefully Ascencio can stay healthy and be productive for Houston but I sure would have liked to have had Ian Stewart.

Jennings for his carrer at MMPUS is 0-3 with a 10.47 era, 6 HR, in 16.1 ip, I hope that was more of a result of our boys owning him rather than a factor of the park.  Each start was miserable the best was last year apperance, with 5.2 ip with 5 earned.

That aside last yr minus a few early and late season starts he was nails.  I truley hope thats a sign of things to come.

Does anyone recall those 3 starts?

Stark basically said that if Clemens pitches for any MLB team next season, it will almost certainly be for a team in Texas. My guess is that if he decides to play, it will be the Astros beginning in June or late May. Yankees and Red Sox won't offer him the same perks to return (and really can't do so), and the Rangers are probably still too far away from seriously competeing for a championship. That leaves a shortened Astros season as a pretty good option.

And you can add that Buck Showalter is a zero-perks manager.  Thats why I say he won't end up in Arlington.  This is a guy who requires his team to warm up in full gameday attire before each game, we're talking 100+ degrees at 5:30.  Also, Buck must have the biggest ego in the dugout too, see, A-rod, Soriano, soon to add Hank Blaylock.

Err, I spent the entirety of Game Three standing next to the O's Bros. They seemed more like hippies than UH students, but they did have official-looking badges designating them as O's Bros. They had the banner and put up the K signs to boot.

I was told that they were not allowed to take their usual (and Astros-sanctioned) space in front of the vacant wheelchair space in the RF upper deck.  They had to be in their alloted seats.

If this is in conflict with your recollection, then I stand corrected as I'm only going by third-hand info.

This reminds me?I was at the Astros at Rangers game 2 years ago, Roy-O pitched a 1-0 gem, Beltran robbed Michael Young in the first of a HR just to left of us.  We had front row seats in the upper deck in left center (where the big ass Ameriquest Bell is now) where there are no seats anymore.  The "O?s-Bros" hung their sign in front of us.  The ranger?s ushers made them untie the all the weights aka, "1/2 lbs. deep sea leads", that were keeping the banner from flopping around in the wind, because if they fell 50 ft it could kill one someone below.

Dude spent the 1st 3-4 inning working on it, he had to untie about 30 of them.  Pissed everyone off we were having to shuffle out of his way.  Then the damn banner was flopping around for the rest of the game.  The first time I ever wanted to punch an astros fan in the face.  Besides that he wasn?t sitting anywhere around us, he sat about 20 rows up in another section.  I've seen that they have a new banner now, so the "O's-Bros" have come along way.  But on that day they could had been a little more courteous to their fellow fans.  I love the concept of supporting your team on the road especially in Dallas/Arlington, but use some GD tact.

On that day the O?s-Bros representative was a 40 something 300 lbs. Jack-ass.

I have wanted to vent that for some time.  Thank you.

I read a post before the DLS that there were tickets made available a day before the game on ticketmaster.com, based on the visiting teams not using their ticket allotment.  Can't verify that, but it may be legit.  I'd probably shoot for ebay if you really want to go and guaranteed of a preferred seat.  I didn't make it out there last week, but also heard you were able to scalp good tickets and hour before first pitch for under $80/ticket.

Beacon Hill Pub, Its right there down from the MASS Hospital "T"(train) stop on the red line, just across the river from Cambridge.  You can catch the game there, no big screens just a dive bar.  I watched the CF National championship game when I was in Boston last at a decent bar around Fenway...it's either a Fox and the Hound or just like one but bigger right down the street from Fenway.  And descent micro brew right across the street from Fenway.

Just from the replay I saw on sportscenter, but it looked like Gipson's eyes lit up rounding second, to say, "Holy Crap! he's waving me around" ...Just my first reaction to seeing that play, having to listen to the game last night, was that the ball was hit so that it would be a husseling double and hold at third.  Bt then I notice that Patterson was playing Luke in the opposite field and he had to pretty much dive to cut it off from going to the fence.  There had to be mad over spin on that bad which probably caused Gipson to misread it until he picked up Masellino rounding second.  Then it may have been to late.

Was he running on the pitch?  Milo mentioned he had a bigger lead at first.
