The current software also poses a greater security risk the longer we use it.

So you're saying you can't keep Mike Fiers from posting here?

Well shows what I know. I thought they were still on NFL Network. Primetime games still suck as a fan though, Thursday night being the worst.

I thought it was a fairly well accepted model that the NFL makes all decisions by in part filtering them through the affect on TV$.

Thursday night games are the worst game day experiences there are. Even Monday night is better, and Monday nights are pretty bad. I don’t know why the NFL continues to insist on them when it’s universally hated by players and fans.

Yes you do.

Tags raises an interesting possibility: Reddick for McCann

The Astros would have to add more than Reddick (money and/or some other player) to get that done.

He is, but only making $5M this season.

I was thinking more about what a team would have to give up to get him.

But the Sox might now make James McCann available via trade. McCann used to catch JV.

Am I reading it right that he'd be a free agent after the 2020 season?

Mets are sniffing around Chirinos. I hope we sign both catchers.

They won't be signing Grandal who just signed with the White Sox.

Maybe Fiers knows.

His contract expires after next season.  I wonder if any team will be willing to sign him?

Higher than 5? No one.

As long as LSU beats Georgia, the Tide should be in.

My thesis is the committee's worst nightmare is not being able to get them in.

Then they're praying for a Baylor loss.

The Mets and Red Sox may not enjoy a punishment of the perpetrators

Even more ironic.  We're the Red Sox fined for basically the same thing in 2017?

They have become the New England Patriots of MLB,

Perfect.  This SI writer gives you exactly that. https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/11/13/astros-steal-signs-spygate-videotaping

Who do you think should be ranked ahead of Alabama?

Baylor whose wins at Kansas State and Oklahoma State and at home over Iowa State are better than Alabama's win at A&M.  Minnesota's one big win is also better than Alabama's.  At this stage of the season I prefer to look at quality of the schedule more than style points and eye test.  I'd also not have Georgia at 4.  Home loses are killers to me, and Georgia's is awful.

My top 4 would be LSU, Baylor, Minnesota, and Ohio State in that order.

Yes. His surgery was on sept 16th and the full recovery timeline is 12-14 months. The optimistic timeframe puts him back in play the last week of the season. Which would make no sense. I can’t imagine how tendering him an offer is logical unless they ink home to a multi-year deal.

That said, the Astros saw something in him of some immediate or future value that may have been more than a rental. Maybe multi-year makes sense.

He had that terrific season a few years ago.  The Astros obviously didn't know the injury existed prior to the deal for him.  I don't think we'll know how the Astros feel about him long term until after the contract situation is done.

I'd put Urquidy well over Sanchez. Sanchez might even get non-tendered.

Sanchez may not pitch again until 2021.

It seems like it's usually not until their 2nd year back that TJ cases really return to their previous effectiveness, so I don't think I'd count on McCullers being an ace next year. I think he'll be ok, but it's going to take a while for him to regain feel and confidence.

I saw one opinion today refer to one of the Mets pitchers (Wheeler?) as a possible Morton 2.0 project. I expect them to do something like that. They're going to need to pay Springer soon.

In the past week or two he tweeted video of himself pitching off a mound claiming he was hitting 90.  I also read somewhere he's finishing rehab soon.

May the BBG's take pity on the Astros when batting with RISP.

BBG’s have told me to go fuck myself.

Interesting perspective on the information gamesmanship.  Clearly, the Astros are talented hitters.  But, if they get skunked when their information is cut off and then fail at the classic "see the ball, hit the ball", it appears that might be a weakness on the team construct or players ability to adapt to any circumstance that presents itself.

There are several players who, IMO, lack emotional self-control in important situations.  All players fall victim to it on occasion.  However the Astros have a few who regularly fall victim to it.  Altuve and Correa appear to me to be the biggest culprits.  Springer seems to have slowly made progress in that area.  That weakness is the separator.
