Bregman picks up Springer's slack in the first.
Jake gets a 2 out rbi single in the 2nd.
2-0 Astros, Mid 2nd.
-
One run per inning will do nicely. Springer is really slacking tonight.
-
Are we just staying a day behind on these threads now?
I guess as long as we're winning, we shouldn't change anything.

Don't know what you're talking about.
Let's move along.

A team on a streak respects the streak.

Oops. Perfect game, no-hitter, and shutout all disappear on one pitch.
-
Justin was *pissed* about that bomb by Jones.

So was I.

Does Springer still have options? He needs to go to Round Rock until he figures out his shit. This 0-3 is entirely unacceptable.
-
Another one run inning.
Springer robbed.
-
Left fielder played that nicely.
Great job by Chirinos to get the run home. 1-0 pitch up and out was called a strike. Swung/ missed at next pitch in the same spot and suddenly he was behind 1-2. Battled and got the sac fly.
-
Verlander got filthy that inning.
-
This umpire must have a beef with Bregman.

Dreckman's strike zone is about as wide as he is.

Well, it certainly has shrunk in this half-inning.

That was a study in unnecessary drama.
Starting with not locating a 2 strike FB to a .158 hitter.

Also resulting in an extra 15 pitches or so. Frustrating.

Savvy veteran move to give up the walks *after* the triple.
-
Tigers trying to help us out here. Let's take advantage.

Detroit’s left side determined to give the Astros a chance to blow this one open.
-
Detroit switched out their gloves for meat cleavers in that inning.
-
Bases loaded with no outs and all of that butchery, and we only get one run. Oh, well.

It's just like playing golf with a bad golfer. Or, as Keith Richards says, if you play with bad musicians, you become a bad musician.

Blum was spot on: “he is not throwing at hitting speed.” Hard to stay back on 69-77.

Bregman spiked that one. Shame the 1B couldn't pick it.

That hop four feet away is the worst.

Difficult pick off the lip

Yuli is having a difficult night at the plate.
-
No matter how many homers Bregman has, he is in a bit of a funk.

He said as much 2 weeks ago.
Suspect he feels the same now.
-
Jake!
2 out rbi triple!
-
Jake hit that ball surprisingly hard considering where it was pitched.
-
Jake is putting together a very nice year so far. He's really improved from last year.
-
JaCoby (Jacob or Coby, pick one) Jones, Goodrum, and Stewart check into the Heartbreak Hotel.
-
The best thing about this Detroit team may be these unis, and, for the record, that’s not damning them with faint praise.

I am saying it tonight. He looks out of sorts at the plate.
-
Castellanos looks like he wants to be anywhere else.
-
Bottom of the order did some heavy lifting in this series.
Rest up.
The champs are up next.
-
The only weak spot in the entire 25 is White. Stassi is a solid backup catcher. With Kemp or Marisnick batting 9th and Chirinos catching, this is a tough lineup.

Won this game 5-1 with only 3 hits from spots 1-5 in the lineup (Bregman HR, Correa 2 singles).

Detroit is awful. No talent, no effort. Looks like Gardenhire is past his expiration date.

The biggest and best change he has made is the drastic reduction in his strikeouts. Put the ball in play and you have a chance to make things happen.
