There is a moment here, to do a Germany, and identify a core of young talent (+/- 20 years old) around which to build a winning team for 2026. Groom them and blood them and let them grow together over the next 8 years.

So all three nations receive an automatic entry? Even Canada?
I wonder how that's going to affect the confederation qualifying. I think by this tournament, I think even the 2022 cup, the format will have changed and some insane number of teams will qualify so who knows, maybe they'll end up taking 10 or 12 teams from concacaf. I wonder what will happen in conmebol. Maybe they'll just say Fuck this qualifying nonsense, we're all going. Bolivia! Hey, Bolivia! Wake up! You too, Venezuela!
So anyway, congratulations, Canada! I know it's going to be awkward to coordinate a global event with a testy enemy like the US but never say never.

According to my source for all things futbol, the FIFA announcement said that the automatic bid issue was still to be determined, but a resolution would be reached within "the next few weeks".
