My dad and my 8-year-old son have watched this entire postseason together. While I'm devastated that I haven't been able to join them for most of it, I can't imagine what a great memory it will be for both of them, win or lose.
We're all Astros fans. Let's enjoy this team.
-
I'm so excited! I'm so scared...

There’s some difference between Australian and New Zealand music, isn’t there?

I'm out of candy already and there are still big packs of kids running around. Have to turn out all the lights, I guess.

I've been watching English-language Japanese news as a calming ritual.

Maybe not as much as you might think, you may be surprised at how many 'Aussie' entertainers are actually sheep shaggers. The progression seems to be first make it in NZ, then Aus as the way to international success.
-
Better than watching this gibberish pre game show.
Normally, it's a dude restoring cabinets or a new shopping place in a suburb of Tokyo, but today they are trying to convince foreigners to come to some crummy tourist area in Shinjuku. Switched over to Jeopardy.

Fifty years a fan. Father was a fan from the outset and passed it to me. He’s watching.

This is why we got Verlander, more importantly, this is why he came here. There is no telling what might happen but I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad he is starting.

Here's to you and your dad! Go Astros!
He passed on in 1989. He was a semi-pro player, 2nd base. I couldn’t do the athletic thing, so being a fan is the next best thing. I’ve thought of him a lot this month

Okay boys, let's do this for Houston! I'm on play-by-play duty.

T1 of Game 6
Hill pitches to
Springer
ball up, strike swinging, fouled weakly to the right side, 3/4 swinging strike 3. 1 out.
Dan Iassongna is behind the dish.

T1 of Game 6, 1 out
Bregman
strike, single to left..

Frito Pie not sitting well, but I guess that's the point.

Rich Hill looks somewhat reptilian.

T1 of Game 6, 1 out, man on 1st
Altuve
throw over, strike 1, swinging over the top of a curve, foul, swinging at a slow curve for strike 3. 2outs.
-
I can't imagine admitting that.
The real story is my dog went racing past me on the stairs and knocked my left let up, as I went to plant my right foot, it hit the edge of the step and my ankle turned pretty hard.

Hitters (except Bregman, of course) looked amped. Hill used that.

T2 of Game 6, 0 - 0
Gurriel (gets booed lustily by the fruits and nuts),
ball outside, foul, high curve for a strike, check swing, fouled back taken by Bellinger. 1out.
-
Good call by blue. I thought he went in live speed.
-
T2, 0 - 0, 1 out
McCann,
strike, foul, fly ball to left, Pederson catches it. 2 outs.

Fuck, how wide is the zone?

Why does it always seems like Marwin waits for one to get piped before he swings?

Credit to Marwin for squaring up the curve. That's three that have been barreled. They're going to start getting to the outfield grass soon.

As Coach had to remind me in the ALCS...all you can do is put a good swing on it and hit it hard. Keep it up, and they'll find a hole.

-
Wonder if he hustled all the way or only after the boot?
Marwin maybe, but Bregman isn’t one to dog it, is he?
-
Did Bregman not get out of the box well? He's fast enough that if Seager kicks the ball 8 feet in front of him, he ought to beat it out.
-
Wonder if he hustled all the way or only after the boot?
I wondered the same thing.
-
Marwin maybe, but Bregman isn’t one to dog it, is he?
No he's not.
-
The ball kicked in front of Seager so he had forward momentum on the throw. Any other direction and Bregman is probably safe.

It looked to me like he was trying to pull that one. He had to know the curve was coming, seems like his best bet by far is to try to take it to left.

Makes sense, but Reddick is pretty much an automatic out right now.

I'm no baseball coach, but does it look like Reddick is pulling away from the plate on his swing instead of swinging through it? It looks like he's giving up the outside part of the plate.
has been the whole postseason.

Reddick is a hole.
One guaranteed out in the lineup is hard enough. Two in a row is nearly impossible.

He’s got to hang in the box for that to happen. He’s pulling off everything.

Key pitch in that AB was the 3-0 FB. Placed it carefully in the right spot, would have settled for a walk. Instead he got to 2 strikes and threw a good curve.

This bullpen makes more bad 0-2 and 1-2 pitches than I can stand.
-
Does Beltran get a look here -- PH
-
This bullpen makes more bad 0-2 and 1-2 pitches than I can stand.
It's torture.
-
B7, 1 - 3, 2 outs
Barnes
strike, check swing foul, ball down and away, strike three looking.. 3 outs
After 7, Astros 1, Dodgers 3
-
The entire bullpen is a gas can right now. We all get taking Verlander out, but I would’ve strongly considered sacrificing his at bat in the 7th to keep him in. The bullpen is that bad at the moment.
No way. That would have been just plain insane.
-
HPU sounded like a kicked puppy on that strike call.
-
This bullpen makes more bad 0-2 and 1-2 pitches than I can stand.
A world championship-caliber team should have a serviceable bullpen at a minimum
-
Musgrove has the stuff, he needs to learn to pitch in the show.
-
HPU sounded like a kicked puppy on that strike call.
How do you know what a kicked puppy sounds like? Joc kick one around the bases or something?
-
Astros have had lots of opportunities. A little bad luck, a little piss poor situational hitting. Have to step up here.
-
We've had our chances.
-
This team knows how to score in the late innings.
-
A world championship-caliber team should have a serviceable bullpen at a minimum
We were all pretty OK with it at the deadline with the exception of a good lefty option. The collapse is pretty unexpected.
-
Holy shit this HPU has just lost it.
-
No way. That would have been just plain insane.
Yeah, might not have scored any runs at all.
I understand the reasoning behind the decision, and it's definitely the conventional way to go. But making that decision means you're going to try to get three innings out of the bullpen, which definitely means you're going to have to score a bunch of runs to have a chance.
-
No way. That would have been just plain insane.
Relying on a bullpen with an era of nearly 8 this postseason to keep the score 2-1 is what’s insane.
You could’ve had Verlander sacrifice Reddick to second. If the Astros had anyone reliable in the pen right now, the thought wouldn’t have even crossed my mind, but the fact is they don’t.
-
T8, 1 - 3,
Culberson in for Utley
Kenley Jansen pitches to
Correa
strike on the bottom of the zone, high fly ball to Pederson in left. 1 out.
-
We were all pretty OK with it at the deadline with the exception of a good lefty option. The collapse is pretty unexpected.
The collapse has happened three years in a row now.
-
Fuck.... 2nd pitch?
-
Yeah, might not have scored any runs at all.

Oh please. This is just hind sight armchair managing.
-
T7, 1 - 3, 1 out
Gurriel,
strike, popped up to Bellinger near the dugout. 2 outs.
-
Giving these outs up too easy.
-
A world championship-caliber team should have a serviceable bullpen at a minimum
Point of order, the bullpen carried this team to the huge lead esp while Keuchel was out.
Granted, it's garbage now.
-
Blaming the bullpen right now is crazy. 1 fucking run with multiple chances.
-

You're not. You behind at this point with only a handful of outs. You have to score at least 2 more runs. You can't give up one of the few outs you have. It was a no brainer, and complaining about it now is easy.
-
Blaming the bullpen right now is crazy. 1 fucking run with multiple chances.
Yep
-
HPU decided to get trigger happy in bottom 8.

That too.
-
T8, 1 - 3, 2 outs
McCann,
strike 8 inches off the outside edge, foul, strike swinging gets away, Barnes throws to Bellinger 2 -3 for the strike out.
3 outs
1 - 3
-
Fucking hellfire what a dreadful set of at bats.
-
Jansen barely worked up a sweat in that inning
-
This lineup is playing tighter than a pair of thanksgiving slacks. They need some lightening up.
-
Would have been nice to make Janssen work a bit more --- 2 pitches by CC & YG WTF?
-
Absolutely.
Agree. If the offense had done more, the JV pinch hit decision would have been different. We scored 1 run off rich Hill and dudes we have seen almost every day for a week.

If we have to play tomorrow dodgers bullpen will be tired
-
Who for the 8th? Just go with Musgrove again?
-
Beltran to leadoff 9th, Maybin to PR when he gets on?
-
I think you have to pinch hit for Reddick in the 9th.
-
Who for the 8th? Just go with Musgrove again?
Luke apparently.
-
Jansen barely worked up a sweat in that inning
Now Marwin, Reddick, and Beltran? That's not inspiring.
-
Who for the 8th? Just go with Musgrove again?
It’s Gregerson.
-
Who for the 8th? Just go with Musgrove again?
Apparently not.
-

LG44
-
Oh wow, Luke is in .... might want to put rally caps on for three or four runs in the 9th
-
B8, 1 - 3
Luke Gregerson pitches to
Culberson
strike, strike two swinging, what the HECK! single to left.
-
0-2 hanging slider
-
0-2
Give me a break.
-
0-2
Give me a break.
Goddammit!
-
0-2 hanging slider
That’s our bullpen for you
-
I fucking hate the Dodgers so bad.
-
So for tomorrow we've got a fully-rested McCullers, a semi-rested Peacock, a marginal Keuchel, maybe McHugh. Any other arms that aren't terrifying?
-
Musgrove lifted so he can be available tmw?
-
I think Musgrove would have been the better choice here...unless Gregerson can go 2.
-

Seems like the list to me, just add Morton

The Gregerson choice definitely makes me think Hinch is managing for game 7.
-
There are definitely two different strike zones.
-

I imagine so, but by God, they'd better not have him pitch to Pederson again.
-
This is just crazy pants....

Harris?
-
Did Joe Buck just say Bregman plays second base?
-
B8, 1 - 3, 0 outs, man on 1st
Taylor,
ball down, foul, ball just missed low, grounded to third, Bregman picks it and throws it up the line a little bit, yuli tags him on the hand. 1 out. Culberson to 2nd.
-
Did Joe Buck just say Bregman plays second base?
He did.
-
There are definitely two different strike zones.
Jansen gets the low strike, Greggerson . . .
-
Harris?
No not Harris throws meatballs
-
The Gregerson choice definitely makes me think Hinch is managing for game 7.
Me as well...
-
Did Joe Buck just say Bregman plays second base?
Yes. I think he was dropped on his head when he was a child.
-
Until the Astros can push one more fucking run across the plate pulling Verlander is simply a non issue. Plus, there's another potential game tomorrow. Fuck it.
-
Yes. I think he was dropped on his head when he was a child.
In college too.
-

This. The expected vaunting momentum hit a brick wall at the ravine. That has to get fixed.
-
B8, 1 - 3, 1 out, man on 2nd
Seager,
ball, strike swinging, strike 2, ball down, ball down and in, 3 -2, great pitch, got him swinging. 2 outs.
-
Lets just focus on the 9th inning.... Joe Buck can kiss my multi-colored rainbow gut ass....
Talking about tomorrow early is bad juju
-
Several good sliders there from Luke.
-
There's a low strike.
-
This. The expected vaunting momentum hit a brick wall at the ravine. That has to get fixed.
I could've just agreed with hh but sometimes people just need to hear the same information delivered a different way...
-
Several good sliders there from Luke.
Believe it or not, numbers wise, he has been the best option out of the pen in the postseason.
-
Fuck Gregerson getting squeezed.
-
Who woulda thunk that Gregerson would be the most effective reliever in the playoffs for the Astros. Experience, FTW.
-
B8, 1 - 3, 2 outs, man on 2nd
Turner
ball in, changeup in for a strike, checked his swing on a ball down, just inside, ball 4.
-
Who's on the rotation to be behind the plate tomorrow?
-
Liriano in...
-
Luke got squeezed.
-
Who's on the rotation to be behind the plate tomorrow?
Cuzzi from game 1 right?
-
Luke got squeezed.
So did verlander
-
Cuzzi from game 1 right?
Mark Wegner I think.
Strap on, boys, here comes Liriano.
-
Buck actually made a good point...Jansen’s wait on the bench is getting longer.
-
Cuzzi from game 1 right?
I guess that makes sense.
-
That was strike 3
-
Squeezed

when has that mattered.
-
That was strike 3
That's what I thought.
-
I guess our bullpen doesn't get that extra couple of inches of the strike zone the Dodgers have gotten.
-
Dodgers apparently hired the animatronics guys to give them a Larry King.
-

King’s age spots have age spots.
-
B8, 1 - 3, 2 out, men on 1st and 2nd
Francisco Liriano in to pitch to
Bellinger,
foul outside first, strike 2 swinging, ball outside, foul, ball JUST outside, just fouled, foul, ball down and in, 3 -2, struck him out going to a knee swinging. 3 outs.
After 8, Astros 1, Dodgers 3
-
Beauty. Come on bats.
-
Three more outs left boys. Hit it hard, and see what happens!
-
Nice job, Liriano.
-
The Liriano trade has paid off. Having speed off the bench won a game and Liriano just got a huge out.
-
Good job. Here comes the Hail Mary.
-
Another sombrero for Bellinger.
-
Good, that'll be something nice for Bellinger to sleep on tonight.
-
Long scoreless inning is probably the best scenario for getting to Jansen.
-
Remind me again how much more money people make if the dodgers win tonight?
I hope we gut them --- three run job (Spring with 2 on) bring on Peacock to finish it.
-
Just a bloop and a blast.
-
How about a good old fashioned rally?
-
Time to go to work boys

Four straight singles. Bloop and a blast. Lots of ways this can happen. IT. AINT. OVER.
-
Vaunting wanted. Apply within.
-
I believe.
-
Let's break Jansen and break their backs!
-
Remind me again how much more money people make if the dodgers win tonight?
I read an article yesterday about big bets being put on the Astros for game 6 -- by LA ticket brokers hedging because they were afraid their game 7 ticket inventory was going to go to $0.
-
I'm hoping for some of the fabled vaunting.
-
Bellinger is positively Biggio-esque when it comes to the slider, except he can't lay off one that dips towards him either.
-
Vaunt! Vaunt! Vaunt! Ger Liriano back in the game....he's rested.
-
T9, 1 - 3
Marwin (lefty)
strike 1, missed the bunt, foul, popped up to Bellinger in short left. 1 out.
-
Josh, jump on the first pitch.
-
That was not a bloop.
-
Get on Josh
-
I will forgive you forever for playing for the fucking mets. hit the goddamn ball. please.
-
Buck said, "Four straight retired by Jansen" like it was the proudest moment of his life.
-
SWING THE FUCKING BATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
How many first pitch strikes have we missed tonight ---- fuck me blue on that
-
SWING THE FUCKING BATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was waiting for this.
-
T9, 1 - 3, 1 out
Reddick,
strike one, ball high, strike swinging, strike swinging. 2 outs.
-
Reddick is trying to yank everything since that ball that was caught in Fenway.
-
SWING THE FUCKING BATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both of em took meaty strike 1 pitches.
Good grief.
-
Jesus, Reddick is lost lost lost.
-
He is absolutely lost up there. Falling down backwards.
-
Up to the old man to keep the line moving.
-
Jansen in full control tonight
-
Think 2004.
-
Reddick is such a fucking joke. Hinch's stubborn insistence on using him is ridiculous.
-
He is absolutely lost up there. Falling down backwards.
Maybin?
-
Goodnight, friends.
-
T9, 1 - 3, 2 outs
Beltran
foul, foul, foul, strike swinging at high heat.
We have a Game 7.
Final Score, Astros 1, Dodgers 3.
-
Frustrating, but they can win tomorrow.
-
Nothing's ever easy, is it?
-
Welp. Lance for all the marbles tomorrow.
-
Goddamn that ball almost hit beltran in the face
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Well, too many wasted chances. One more for all the marbles, but someone needs to wake these guys the fuck up.
-
That was disapointing. Well, one more game to go. No excuses. We can still do this.
-
Shit! God damn!

The lineup can sometimes make you wanna throw up

Dammit.
See y'all tmw.
Doubt I'll sleep but oh well.
-
Verlander is human. We get more baseball. Good night all.
-
Get 'em tomorrow!
-
It is only fitting that there is a game 7. These two heavyweights have been slugging all series long.
-
Someone keep Lance away from the coffee in the morning. He may shake himself apart.
-
Verlander is the only Astro that showed up to win today.
-
Verlander is human. We get more baseball. Good night all.
3 runs and its a different narrative. Simply cannot blame Verlander here.
-
Good night y'all.
-
What a bummer. But at least we got one more chance. Need the guys to nut up and play their best.
-
I reckon we'll see what happens, but I'll be on a flight to Manchester, so . . . maybe I can listen on my phone or some such. Gotta hope that we've seen enough of their bullpen to get to them and chip away and as crazy as this series has been . . . they may have an advantage, but they seem unduly cocky about it (from Buck's reporting) and crazy could be good for us. Let's get those bats swinging!
-
Lots of hard hit balls tonight for outs. The offense isn't dead. The Astros nave never hit a pitcher like Hill well. Fuck Kershaw right in the fucking ear. Tomorrow will be fucking crazy.
-
McCullers will show up tomorrow. I know it.
-
McCullers will show up tomorrow. I know it.
I'm not sure that's the issue.
-
I'm not sure that's the issue.
Verlander showed up tonight. Can't count on a shutout.
-
Well, enjoy game 7 folks, I'm heading up the bush and will be behind the moon for most of the day, hope to pick up a score somehow. A win would be nice.
-
Verlander showed up tonight. Can't count on a shutout.
Not getting any runs out of second and third with no outs in the top of the fifth did them in. Hinch has to think about sitting Reddick tomorrow night, though I don’t understand why Josh hasn’t yet corrected his flaw by watching video. He’s not keeping his head in and staying on the ball right now.
-
Verlander is the only Astro that showed up to win today.
Springer was 2x3 with a walk and scored/drove in the team's only run.
-
3 pitches standout:
Strike 1 to Josh on the 3-0 count. Hill made a good lurch, carefully placed. If Josh walks there . . .
"Strike 1" to Gattis on the 2-0 count. I watched that pitch knew it was a ball and looked down at my phone, heard my 75 year old mom say "well maybe it caught the corner". I said no, it was outside and stayed outside, that's why they . . .WTH?! Terrible terrible terrible call. The argument that they get 90% balls/ strikes right falls to pieces when you put those missed calls in context. Yes it's up to Gattis to battle back from that, but he stood in and took ball 3 and we should have seen how things unfolded from there.
The last one was the Verlander slider that got dumped into right field for the lowest exit velocity double you'll see. Credit the hitter. And credit Verlander for getting thru that with only 2 runs allowed. He is gutsy, gutsy, gutsy and all kinds of good.
Ultimately we didn't cash in on opportunities. Like HH kept saying, keep hitting it hard.
-

It was a bad luck game. Reddick’s strikeout curve might have been ball four, but he did not dare take it. Marwin’s liner was an RBI hit, but Utley was standing on top of second. The Utley HBP was a killer.

The Utley HBP.

The Utley HBP.
Yep. 0-29, and a DP keeps Verlander in control.
